The Collective 4.0
The Collective 4.0 is a design market that's held in Kramerville every Sunday. One could say its a more cosy version of Neighbergoods market and Arts on Main (minus all the food stalls that is). The focus of the market however is not about food, but more about showcasing up and coming designers, be this jewellery, fashion and product design.
I recently attended the market with a close friend of mine, Will Pretorious or more beknownst as Talented Mister Will Photo, who also took all the fantastic photos. Be sure to keep a look out more more of his work that will be featured here. The market really has a great vibe with soft music playing in the background and children doing pottery while their parent photograph the process. One of the little munchins that was waiting for his clay pot to dry, sat for about half an hour watching it physically dry in the sun. It was quite memorable and Will managed to capture this moment in time.
The Ceramic Factory is one the exhibitors, with their quirky salt and pepper shakers and cake servers. The market is held on the rooftop of 4 Desmond street where there are a several design stores showcasing furniture, lighting and product design. Hendrik Smit's Toy Boy Designs also had a space showcasing his unique and fun jewellery using lego pieces. His heart brooch was a piece that really stood out to me, and what better way to wear your heart than on the outside.
We drank Brewers and Union beer and ate delicious shredded pork sandwiches while basking in the autumn sun. The only downfall of the market was the lack of food stalls. Now I know that's not what the market is all about, but on arriving that morning, the both of us were famished and were in dire need of feuling up with some food. Needless to say there was only the availability of eggs benedict and sandwiches. A bit of a disappointment on the food side but i enjoyed it none the less.

I want to ride my bicycle...
A few weeks ago my room mate decided to buy
himself a super hipster bike, a Schwinn. I wont lie, I would happily
spend a couple thousand rands (if I had all that to spend freely) to
ride that beaut of a bike. So he started riding to work on his bike,
and naturally I was insanely jealous. After 2 weeks id had enough, I
wanted to ride a bike to work too. Nobody likes FOMO (fear of missing
out kids). Needless to say I brought my mountain bike that iv had
since I was 10. Not half as hipster but a bike none the less.
I rode to work this morning on my not hipster bike
with the wind blowing in my hair and my scarf flapping around. I cant
quite describe how great it felt. I walked into the office with the
biggest rush! I didn’t even need coffee. Now that’s what I call a
great start to the day.

The Talented Mister Will...
One of my nearest and dearest friends, Will (W.J) Pretorius, recently started apprenticing under a photographer, Richard Thompson, after being told he has a real eye for capturing a fantastic photo.
He has had no formal training in photography but has completely blown me away with his work thus far. Last Sunday afternoon we both found ourselves lazing around the house being completely and utterly unproductive, putting a whole new meaning to a lazy Sunday. He jumped up, grabbed his camera and suggested we do a shoot just for the fun of it. Now I'm no trained model but I've done my fair share of helping friends, make up artists and fashion designers by striking a pose.
So off we headed to Delta park to snap and pose away. There's really nothing else I say that can justify what a great shoot it was, after all, they do say a picture is worth a thousand words...and in this case there are quite a few.
His Facebook page, Talented Mister Will, showcases more of his work.

Ben Howard you are for me...
Ben Howard, you have splashed my heart all over your lyrics...
Gracious- Ben Howard
How would you know?
When everything around you's changing like the weather,
A big black storm.
And who would you turn to?
Or hide a ghost, a shadow at the most, would you let me know?
Cause I don't want to,
To trouble your mind with the childish design of how it all should go.
But I love you so,
But it all comes clear, when the wind is settled, I'll be here, you know.
Cause you said ours were the lighthouse towers
The sand upon that place
Darling I'll grow weary, happy still
With just the memory of your face
Gracious goes the ghost of you
And I will never forget the plans and the
Silhouettes you drew here and
Gracious goes the ghost of you
My dear
And how would you know?
When everything around you's bruised and battered
Like the cold night storm.
And who would you turn to?
Or hide a ghost, a shadow at the most, would you tell me so?
Cause I, I adore you so
When it all comes clear, the wind is settled, I'll be here, you know.
Cause you said ours were the lighthouse towers
The sand upon that place
Darling I'll grow weary, happy still
With just the memory of your face
Gracious goes the ghost of you
And I will never forget the plans and the

Gracious goes the ghost of you
