What the holidays are made for #4...

I stumbled across this quote not too long ago and thought, wow...that really is true. To put a little bit of perspective on why this would be so applicable to my situation (without pouring out every last detail of my life on the internet), is mainly due to the fact that I have lost the one boy I have ever truly loved. I know that is as cliché as any rom-com movie will get, but to be blatantly honest, I couldn’t really give a damn. With next year looking very uncertain in terms of a job and where in S.A I will actually end up working, it’s been decided to cut off all contact with this anonymous young lad.

Oh how I wish I could be young and carefree and not have to make such responsible and grown up decisions that will impact my entire life…with this said I swear my next post will embrace the Christmas cheer, spirit and festivities (also on a more positive note, I’m off to Cape Town soon. That ought to cure the post lover blues!).

Ps. This post has been labelled under spaces, due to my current situation being in a bad one.

What holidays are made for #3...

In my opinion, the word "indulgence" is very closely related to the word croissant, and more so eating one from Park Cafe in Parkwood. Luckily for me, they only had 1 chocolate croissant left, otherwise i'd have easily scoffed down 3. Not only are their croissants to literally drool over, but their homemade raspberry jam had me licking the out the bowl. Its on sale at the cafe, but beware its deliciousness is deadly!

What holidays are made for #2...

Nothing beats waking up late on a weekday and being spoilt by my sister with a full breakfast. Now thats what holidays are made for...

What holidays are made for series...

So, iv officially finished my studies, with a BTech Industrial Design degree behind my name. Along with this prestigious honour, comes a month long holiday, and a well deserved one at that (its been a long year let me tell you). With the crazy amounts of work that i had been doing for my final project, i became a bit of a recluse and didn't do anything fun if one could call it that.

So with all this free time on my hands iv been doing all the things iv missed out on the past couple of months due to varsity. Hence i came up with the series of "That's what holidays are for", to record and and ultimately share what the holidays are for. This way I'm also bound to doing a post as regularly as i can, which hasn't been happening a heck of a lot this year (great timing to have started a blog in my BTech year huh).

The children of Arts on Main...

I managed to take the most beautiful shots of the local children in and around the Maboneng Precinct not too long ago. Although they were pretty demanding in that I pay them to "model", they co-operated whilst i snapped away with my camera. These children don't seem like they have very much yet they're all as happy as a clam. Oh to be young and carefree...

Just sitting back and watching the world go by...

With all the hype of final projects now over, I finally had a bit of time to myself this weekend and it was heavenly to say the least. I didn't do much, but I'm okay with that. I did however give my work desk a spring clean! Usually its littered with post it notes, piled up dirty coffee mugs and random pieces of paper. But not this time. I sat back, read a magazine (that iv had since September and never really got around to paging through it) and even delved in a bit of writing (which i also haven't done much of).

I could  defnitly do with more weekends like this.

Sergeant Pepper Clothing...

I haven't actually been to one of the stores, but I'm sort of sad that I'm not a guy cos i wont ever get a chance to wear the stuff! Their whole marketing campaign that was circulating on Instagram was pretty dam impressive too. I mean, their male models for the campaign had beards...BEARDS! Theres just no competing with a bearded man. sigh.

Just do it...

and did it was exactly what i did. The Nike Run Jozi 10km that is. What a day it was! To avoid traffic, we took the gaitrain from Rosebank to Sandton, and thought we'd be the only ones clever enough to think this plan through. Boy, were we mistaken. The underground of the station was filled with runners in their black and neon shirts. It really felt like we were this exclusive and secretive running club taking the underground to the race! When we arrived at the race, it looked as though we were a kilometre from the ACTUAL starting line! We only started moving 15 minutes after the starting gun had gone off. So lets just minus that from my finish time. Which was slightly dismal, but taking the fact that there were thousands upon thousands of runners crammed in the narrow streets of Alexandra, id say and 1:30:10 isn't half bad!

Running through the streets of Alex really was a breath taking experience, and so was the smell. No really, the smell of sewerage is littered across the entire area. And we just had to run through it. Regardless of the smell, the people of Alexandra were cheering the runners on, shouting and singing and blowing their vuvuzelas. I suppose the day was just as much as much fun for us as it was for them. Looking forward to the next race! Kudos to Nike for organising the hell out of this race, a definite two thumbs up!

The expo was a raving success and in my opinion, as well as all the other comments we got from the stand, BOS will win the best stand award. holding thumbs!
